Interior design ideas that add luxury to your living room

Next

It can be difficult to know where to start when decorating or redecorating a room in your home and the living room is no exception.

But you don't have to start from scratch and change everything to transform the feel of a room. In fact, a few small but focused changes can completely alter how the room feels.

And making a few small but considered changes also helps to keep the price down somewhat.

With that in mind, here’s some great ways to add transformative twists to your living room that will help it feel more luxury.

Colour colour colour

Picture this: stark white walls and black furniture. Does it make you feel warm and luxurious? Most likely the answer will be no. Cue - the need to think carefully about the colours you’re using.

This goes for all elements, including the wallpaper, the flooring, the furniture and the ornaments.

Choose a colour palette and work out what changes you’ll make to introduce a little bit more warmth to the room. When it comes to rooms with limited, picking warm hues is particularly important.

Pick bold features

Picking out one or two luxury items can completely change how a room feels overall but this quick fix also has another purpose.

We know we’re biased but displaying a set of Mannix  dumbbells or incorporating a Mannix  weights bench into your living room furniture collection will get people talking. The same goes for a stunning work of art hanging on the wall.

People’s eyes are immediately drawn to objects like that and they leave a lasting impact on people.

Know the space you’re working with

This sounds very obvious, but when we collect furniture over our lifetime and move from home to home, we of course keep that furniture and try make it work in any setting.

Step back for a moment and think - does every piece of furniture you’ve got in your living room right now actually work in there? Do you need to think about moving some of it out, altering it with a lick of paint or even adding more in?

If you’ve not really thought about how you’re using the space, consider rearranging your furniture and if that means moving some items out you could either place them in another room or consider giving them away to a charity shop.

Remember visual comfort

Nothing beats looking at plush pillows, fluffy blankets and a warming fireplace to make you feel that added bit of luxury.

It seems like a simple fix, but consider sprucing your sofa up with some added pillows matching the colour and design of your room. Choose a fluffy rug that feels luxurious to walk on. Add a window seat with cushions if the design of your room allows this.

Don’t necessarily go ‘trendy’

Creating a classy, luxury room won’t necessarily be in line with the latest trends - and you shouldn’t worry about that.

Adding a spot of stunning to your living room comes from thinking carefully about features, colour and extra comfort, as we’ve shared above. Focus on these elements and you can completely transform a room.
